4.2.4. The L/C shall be issued in a form acceptable for theMANUFACTURER not earlier than 14 (fourteen) calendar
days before shipment of the Goods. Before issuance of the
L/C the CUSTOMER shall approve the text of the L/C
with the MANUFACTURER
4.2.6. The L/C shall be available by sight payment or by
deferred payment up to 240 (two hundred forty) calendar
days after the date when the Confirming Bank takes up the
documents.
4.2.7. In case the L/C is available by deferred payment, it
shall stipulate for discounting. The costs of discounting are
for the CUSTOMER’s account.
4.2.10. The Parties can agree or change dates of issuance/
increase of the L/C by e-mail or by fax.

客人说给我们开即期L/C，可是 by deferred payment up to 240 calendar days after the date when the confirming bank takes up the documents 又是什么意思？是L/C 240days 吗？ 我要怎么理解L/C AT SIGHT ? 谢谢！

信用证的兑用方式是即期付款的,或者是延期付款240天（到期日:为保兑行收到单据之后)

谢谢回复，我对这种条款不太懂，按我的理解即期付款就是交单给银行就可以拿到款，延期240天就是要交单给银行后240天才能收到款， 是这意思吗？ 还是像客人说的只要文件交给银行没问题就会安排款，都是即期的。。。。。。:L 请指教，谢谢！

Defer payment 延期付款类型，属于远期信用证。
常见的付款到期日：
1.提单日或者装运日若干天延期付款
deferred payment atXXX days after the date of BL or shipment
2. 交单日后若干天延期付款
deferred payment at XXX days after presentation of documents
3.固定在将来某日期延期付款
deferred payment on ( a future date) fixed

尽量争取即期付款的信用证(Available with XXX bank by payment)或者即期议付信用证(available with any bank by negotiation)，收汇速度快，对出口商比较有利。

as I wrote below this sentence for deferred payment is valid only for financialists and is standard for such types of the Contracts :"The L/C shall be available by sight payment or by deferred payment up to 240 (two hundred forty) calendar days after the date when the Confirming Bank takes up the documents.". As well as we can open L/C only not earlier than 14 (fourteen) calendar days before shipment of the Goods - it's also standard clause for our suppliers in case L/C payments.
