RE: CTN/ACD IMPLEMENTATION IN NIGERIA
Dear Valued Customer,
We understand there is a lot of pertinent issues on the subject matter, and unfortunately there has been limited information coming on this matter. We hope this circular can assist to clarify the current situation. Maersk Line has been engaging with the Shippers Agents association of Nigeria (SAN) to raise all concerns and issues with regards to implementation of the CTN.
A meeting was convened last week with the Nigeria Shippers council (NSC) in view of the challenges being faced by shippers with regards to obtaining the required ENS. Please note all issues have been brought to the attention of the NSC who have acknowledged shortfalls to the system.
There are now ongoing discussions to set up a technical committee with the sole purpose of addressing all difficulties / technical issues faced with the CTN/ACD implementation process and any associated cost.
As a response to our meeting, find below message from NSC to SAN dated 12/11/15 where they have informed “no penalties for non-compliance till all technical issues have been resolved”.
We shall continue to accept cargo without request for ENS till this matter has been clarified by the Nigeria Shippers council. We shall also continue to update you once we hear more from the Nigerian Shippers Council.
