美聯社報導，體積龐大的農業車輛集體前往阿姆斯特丹，有計劃的堵住交通要道，和物流中心，甚至荷蘭最繁忙的阿姆斯特丹史基浦機場(Amsterdam Airport Schiphol)也出現拖拉機，機場敦促旅客使用公共交通工具前往其航廈，因為人們擔心抗議者也會封鎖機場航廈。

農民之所以抗議，是因為荷蘭政府提出2030年之前，所有氮氧化物、氨氣等污染物的排放量必須減少50% ，雖然立意是環境保護，但是農民非常擔心自己的權益受損。
荷蘭抗議者正在向政府辦公室潑糞，淹沒街道，變得無法治理。
這次起義是對世界經濟論壇控制的政府關閉農場以“拯救地球”的回應。
