2月14號的情人節，杜魯多在加拿大歷史上迎來了他的高光時刻。
宣布啟動《緊急狀態法》來平息加拿大卡車司機自由車隊在渥太華的抗議。
《緊急情況法》其中一項就是作用，可用於阻止向卡車司機的自由車隊提供資金。
無需法院命令，授權銀行單方面凍結卡車司機和支持卡車司機的人的賬戶，而且具有法律豁免權。

今天，是宣布緊急法的第三天，加拿大司法部長David Lametti說川普的支持者“應該擔心”他們的銀行賬戶被凍結。

David Lametti還說，如果卡車司機參加了抗議活動，或者他們的公司允許他們參加抗議活動，他們可能會失去卡車運輸執照。 財政部長Freeland在宣布《緊急情況法》時也說明了這一點。
