B:Hi Rick.Yes,I was on vacation last month.
A:Oh,did you go anywhere interesting?
B:Yes,I went to Guizhou with my family.
A:Wow,did you see Huangguoshu Waterfall?
B:Yes,I did.It was wonderful!I took quite a few photos there.
What about you?Did you do anything special?
A:Not really,I just stayed at home most of the time to read and relax.


A:Hi Claire,are you free next week?
B:Hmm…next week is quite full for me,Jack.
A:Really?How come?
B:I have dance and piano lessons.
A:What kind of dance are you learning?
B:Oh,swing dance.It’s fun.I have class once a week,every Monday.
A:How often do you have piano lesson?
B:Twice a week,on Wednesday and Friday.
A:Well,how about Tuesday?
B:Oh,I have to play tennis with my friends.But do you want to come?
A:Sure!


A:Did you like the singing competition yesterday,Anna?
B:Oh,it was fantastic.Nelly sang so well.
A:Well,I think Lisa sang better than Nelly.
B:Which one was Lisa?
A:The one with shorter hair.I think Lisa sang more clearly than Nelly.
B:Yes,but Nelly danced better than Lisa.
A:You can tell that Lisa really wanted to win,though.
B:Well,everyone wants to win.The most important things is to learn something new and have fun.



A:Hi,I’m Gerg.I’m new in town.
B:Hi,I’m Hellen.Welcome to the neighborhood.How do you like it so far?
A:It’s fantastic.But I still don’t really know my way around.
B:Well,the best supermarket is on Center Street.You can buy the freshest food there.
A:Oh,great!Is there a cinema around here?I love watching movies.
B:Yes,Sun cinema is the newest one.You can sit the most comfortably because they have the biggest seats.
A:Thanks for telling me.
B:No problem.
A:What did you do in class today,Sarah?
B:We had discussion about TV shows.My classmates like game shows and sports shows.
A:Oh,I can’t stand them.I love soap operas.I like to follow the the story and see what happens next.
B:Well,I don’t mind soap operas.But my favorite TV shows are the News and talk shows.
A:They are boring.
B:Well,they may not be very exciting,but you can expect to learn a lot from them,I hope to be a TV reporter one day.



A:What are you reading,Ken?
B:The Old Man and the Sea by Hemingway.
A:Wow,now I know why you are so good at writing stories.
B:Yes, I want to be a writer.
A:Really?How are you going to become a writer?
B:Well,I’m going to keep on writing stories.Of course,what do you want to be?
A:My parents want me to be a doctor,but I’m not sure about that.
B:Well,don’t worry.Not everyone knows what they want to be.Just make sure you try your best.And then you can do anything you want.
A:Yes.You are right.



A:What are you reading,Jill?
B:It’s a book about the future.
A:Sound cool!So what will the future be like?
B:Well,cities will be more crowed and pullted.There will be fewer trees and the environment will be in great danger.
A:That souds bad!Will we have to move to other planets?
B:Maybe,but I want to live on the earth
A:Me,too.Then what can we do?
B:We can use less water and plant more trees.Everyone should play a part in saving the earth.


A:Sam,I want to make Russian soup for a party on Saturday.Can you tell me how?
B:Sure.First,buy some beef,one cabbage,four carrots,three potatoes,five tomatoes and one onion.Then,cut up the vegetable.
A:What’s next?
B:Next,put the beef,carrots and potatoes into a pot and add some water.After that,cook them for 30 minutes.Then,put the cabbage,tomatoes and onion and cook for another 10 minutes.
A:Ok,that’s it?
B:No.one more thing.Finally,don’t forget to add some salt.

A:Could you take out the rubbish,fold the clothes and do the dishes?
B:So much?
A:Yes,because Mom will be back from shopping any minute now.And she won’t be happy if she sees this mess.
B:But the house is already pretty clean and tidy.
A:Yes,well,it’clean.But it’s not”mother clean”



A:You look sad,Kim.What’s wrong?
B:Well,I found my sister looking through my things yesterday.She took some of my new magazines and CDs.
A:Hmm…That’s not very nice.Did she give them back to you?
B:Yes,but I’m still angry with her.What should I do ?
A:Well,I guess you could tell her to say sorry.But why don’t you forget about it so that you can be friends again.Although she is wrong,it’s not a big deal.

B:How long is the wall?
A:Ah,the most popular question.If we’re only talking about the part of the Ming Great Wall,it’s about 8850 kilometers long.This makes it the longest wall in the world.
B:Wow,that’s amazing.Why did the ancient emperors build the wall?
A:The main reason was to protect their part of the country.As you can see,it’s quite tall and wide.As far as I know,there are no other man-made objects as big as this.
B:Is badaling part of the Ming Great Wall?
A:Yes,it’s the most famous part.

B:Yes,I have.I went there back in April.

B:I camped in the mountain with some friends.We put up a tent and cooked outside.
A:That sounds fun.I’ve never been camping.
B:You should try it.

B:Hi,I’m Amy.I have some things for the kids.I have had this magazine for a couple of months.The stories inside may be a bit old,but they are still interesting.

A:That’s right,In China,we normally say”toilt”or”washroom”Anyway,they’re over there.
B:Ok,I’ll be quick.
A:No problem,you don’t need to rush.

B:I agree.It’s been three years since we last saw our primary school classmates.
A:It’s interesting to see how people have changed.
B:Billy has changed so much.He used to be so shy and quiet.
A:Yeah,his face always turned red when he talks to girls.
B:I used to see him reading in the library every day.
A:That’s because he was really good student.He studied hard and got good scores on his exams.
B:Did he used to wear glasses?
A:Yes,and he used to be thin,too.But look how big and strang he is now!

A:China is famous for tea,right?
B:Yes,both in the past and now.
A:Where is tea produced in China?
B:Well,in many different areas.For example,Anxi and Hangzhou are widely known for their tea.
A:How is tea produced?
B:Well,as far as I know,tea plants are grown on the side of mountains.When the leaves are ready,they are picked by hand and then are sent for processing.
A:What happens next?
B:Tea is packed.And sent to many different countries and places around China.
A:It seems that many people all over the world drink Chinese tea.
B:Yes,people say that is good for both health and business.



A:Hey Roy,the subject for my school project is “Small inventions that changed the world”.Can you help me think of an invention?
B:With pleasure.Let me think.Hmm…I know,The zipper!
A:The zipper?Is it really such a great invention?
B:Think about how often it’s used in our daily lives.You can see the zippers on dresses,trousers,shoes,bags…almost everywhere!
A:Well,you do seem to have a point.
B:Of course.I thought about it because I saw a website last week.The pioneers of different inventions were listed there.For example,it metioned that the zipper was invented by whitcom Judson in 1893.But at that time,it wasn’t used widely.

B:Hmm…I think they just want to protect the paintings.So if you don’t use a flash.Then it maybe ok.
A:Yeah,I think we should be allowed to do that.I’ll bring my camera anyway.



A:Mum,I’m really worried.
B:Why?What’s wrong?
A:I can’t find my schoolbag.
B:Well,Where did you last put it?
A:I can’t remember.I attended a concert yesterday.It might still be in the music hall.
B:Did you have anything valuable in your schoolbag?
A:No,just my books,my pink hair band and some tennis balls.
B:So it can’t be stolen.
A:Oh,wait.I went to a picnic after the concert.I remember I had my schoolbag with me at the picnic.
B:So could it still be at the park?
A:Yes.I left early,before the rest of my friend.I think it must have somebody picked it up.I’ll call them now to check if anybody has it.
