我有个朋友问我，2口子都是留学生签证来加拿大，没枫叶卡，孩子也从国内带过来（中国国籍，也不知道他们怎么带过来的）。问孩子能不能免费上加拿大公立小学？

Admissions & RegistrationEvery child who lives in Toronto is welcome to attend a TDSB school. You can register at any time during the school year.Parents of students aged 4 to 13 can register directly at their neighbourhood school by bringing the following items: * Proof of age (such as a birth certificate or passport) * Proof of home address (such as purchase or lease agreement or a utility bill showing name and address) * Proof of custody (where applicable)Children Without Immigration StatusChildren not born in Canada who are living in Toronto without Canadian immigration status are welcome and eligible to attend TDSB schools without payment of admission fees. Any document which verifies the student's legal name, date of birth, home address, custody papers where applicable, and date of entry to Canada ( required for ESL funding purposes), is acceptable for TDSB school registration. A passport ( travel document) may be used to verify the student's name, date of birth and date of entry to Canada, in the absence of an immigration document or birth certificate. 大多数同胞逻辑不是一般的差，与其讲道理完全提不起兴趣，只能无视 赏 2014-04-10#9 T 86 $0.00 The kid should be able to attend the public school here. School's funding is from property tax. All home owners pay property tax. That's why the so called "foreigner" can send their kids to school here.

No matter whether you send your kids to catholic school or not, you have already paid for it. Even though you do not have school-age kids in your household, you are still paying for the education tax.

天涯 说:感觉挺没有道理的。凭什么纳税人要为其他国家的居民或公民的子女支付教育经费？如果说是加拿大移民，有PR身份，这可以理解，仅仅是留学生，真的没有必要。这是我个人认为的。这个规矩应该改变，孩子是必须受教育，但其父母必须支付费用。点击展开...别扯了，人家父母在这里可以是税务居民，而且还交更多的国际学生学费。

我觉得应该可以上免费的公立，我有朋友在美国拿学生签证，老婆和孩子办理的探亲签证，孩子在当地上的免费的公立学校。直接去学校问。

我的小孩就是以留学生孩子的身份目前在加免学费读小学的，我们的school district不需要孩子的study permit, 但是由于孩子拿的是visitor visa，一次的停留期只有6个月，我现在还没搞清楚除了申请延期，是否还有其他办法可以让孩子的停留时间超过6个月，省得飞来飞去折腾了。
