Thank you for your enquiry about the import conditions for plywood/veneer packaging.Plywood does not get marked with ISPM15.
Following the release of updated ISPM 15 (2009) AQIS has reviewed its import conditions for plywood/veneer packaging and dunnage. ISPM 15 (2009) clearly states that the risk of reinfestation of timber packaging including plywood is out of scope of that standard. AQIS has determined that the risks associated with the importation of plywood/veneer packaging can be effectively managed through its current surveillance mechanisms, Import Clearance Effectiveness surveys and possible periodically targeted surveys of packaging.
As a result, Australia no longer requires a ‘Newly Manufactured Plywood Declaration’ for plywood/veneer packaging material (see AQIS's Notice to Industry 61/2009). This means that there is no requirement for a manufacturer’s declaration stating that the plywood/veneer used in making the packaging is new, not used and not older than 90 days (21 days for some high risk countries). Also, there is no longer a treatment requirement for used plywood/veneer packaging.
