A newborn baby boy has been killed by the family husky in Airdrie, say police.RCMP say the incident happened in Airdrie Wednesday in the Kingsland area at 10 a.m.RCMP say the family dog attacked a newborn infant causing serious trauma to the child.The baby was taken to the Alberta Children’s Hospital but was pronounced deceased at 10:30 p.m.“As far as the exact details of the attack, in deference to the family we’re not giving a lot of information on exactly what occurred,” said RCMP Sgt. Patricia Neely“Obviously, a baby isn’t provoking an attack in any manner.”Police say the husky has been quarantined.There was no previous history of violence with the dog and police say charges are not being considered.The family has other children and there were no issues with them, said Neely.“There will be an investigation held through bylaw involving the family and they’ll determine the future of the dog and whether the dog is destroyed or not,” said Neely.The boy’s name has not been released.“(The family) are clearly distraught and we simply offer them our deepest condolences on the death of their child,” said Neely.“It’s nothing but a tragedy.”
