Pauline Marois’s husband solicited thousands of dollars from a Quebec engineering firm for his wife’s political campaigns, Radio Canada reported Monday.The report said that Marois’s husband, Claude Blanchet, visited a Montreal businessman in the spring of 2007 and asked him to raise $25,000 from different donors in the firm. At the time, the maximum donation was $3,000. The businessman, whom Radio Canada has not identified, said he met with Blanchet a few weeks later and handed Blanchet an envelope with cheques totalling $25,000.He said he hoped the donation would give him “privileged access to Madame Marois.”Blanchet denied the report in a telephone call with Alain Gravel, the Radio Canada reporter who broke the story.
