B.C. Ferries now has the go-ahead from its regulator, the B.C. Ferry Commission, to add a surcharge beginning Aug. 1 to fares on all routes except for those serving northern communities. That means fares will go up 10.3 per cent on major routes and 17.6 per cent on 18 minor routes in time for the long holiday weekend. The cost of a car and driver to travel between Swartz Bay(Victoria) and Tsawwassen (Vancouver) will to from $56 to $61.30. B.C.
