Main Duties:On assigned materials/finishes/and related processes:- Establishes a matrix of recommended materials and finishes for the companys’ components that will provide the required performance at minimum cost and high reliability.- Establishes and maintains a database of related reference information for engineers to electronically access as needed.- Answers related material and finish questions not covered in the database in a timely manner.- Provides design advice relative to unique process needs of the different assigned materials and finishes.- Interfaces with outside suppliers and test labs to obtain technical information and resolve technical issues relative to assigned materials and finishes.- Reviews and approves Bill of Materials to ensure appropriate consistent material and finish selection for standardization, reliability and cost control purposes.- Establishes standard new material and finish call outs as required.- Maintains a database/access to OEM approved suppliers for materials and finishes.- Reviews company wide materials & finish usage along with staying on top of new industry developments to annually recommend cost reduction and performance improvement suggestions.Skills & Qualifications:- BS Engineering /or Metallurgy/or Chemical/or Materials. Advanced degree preferred.- Minimum 7 years of expertise within the Automotive Industry in polymer chemistry, plastics coatings, composites, adhesives, rubber, and elastomers, plus design and process related experience. - Strong knowledge of metals, coatings, plating & lubricant selection experience plus related design and process experience. 回复: 冶金和材料专业好找工作吗?不好找。市场很小，要求又很高。另外大的企业还都在勒人，因为制造业一直不景气。小的企业一般都很少要人，有一两人就足够了。

回复: 冶金和材料专业好找工作吗?实际上,我没有一直从事此行业.我毕业后,从事了两年此方面的研究工作,后来改行搞起重机检验,后又从事公务员工作,国内行政系统状况,你们可能是了解的,一切靠个人的"特殊"努力.后我决定移民了.目前,我主要是考虑能否再改回本行业,如参加一些培训哪,积累一些经验.或者干脆放弃此专业.

回复: 冶金和材料专业好找工作吗?有证最好。上网查CGSB， 这是负责NDE PERSONEL 认证的机构。在安省HAMILTON 有培训中心。检验方法和国内一样，X-RAY，MPI，UT 等等。我知道有人在HAMILTON 学了两周， 考过了UT LEVEL II。 他现在ALBERTA 干无损检验，收入很高。没证有实际工作经验，也有机会。前提是你的英语很好，专业过硬。不过工作后公司仍然会让你去通过CGSB的考试，获得资格。不然的话你要永远给有证的人打下手。好处是公司会出培训费。
