Title: Quality Assurance Technician
Status: Full Time – Permanent
Work location: Half year in Vietnam, half year in Toronto
Duties and Responsibilities
· Strictly adhering to the organizations quality assurance policies and food safety requirements
· Perform inspections, internal audits according to specifications and government regulations, and documents results and corrective actions
· Communication on results of audits/inspection and assist in resolution when necessary
· Create and maintain product specifications database and ensure specifications are on file, and accurate according to both company and government standards
· Monitor and report on supplier production scheduling for quality checks and tests
· Customer complaint investigations in a timely and professional manner of quality issues arising from customers or internal audits, work with suppliers to determine corrective actions to resolve issues, communicate on resolution
· Support technical development of label copy for branded packaging, review product labels for compliance to CFIA prior to printing
· Execute shelf life testing programs to support product specifications
Qualifications & Experience
Required
· Go to Vietnam to perform training for fish and seafoods processing for half year and work in Toronto for half year
· Minimum 5 years’ experience in the Food Industry (retail, foodservice, manufacturing)
· Related experience in Food Safety or Quality Assurance an asset, preferably a technical role
· Must have related experience in the seafood industry
· Frozen fish process industry experience is required
· University Degree in Food Science, Nutrition, or other related science is required
· Knowledgeable in government regulations pertaining to food products, packaging, labelling and their application
· No allergies or food restrictions with consumption of fish and seafood

Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.

Salary: $50,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
