前些日子老外放假了,我们还得上班。没事就逛到这来了。看到很多朋友无私的分享。心血来潮,今天带来本大学学的国际商务函电准备挑些我认为实用的发在这。大家先做翻译,从中也学到怎么写商务信函。(虽然我觉得这书的信件过于正式,不过还是很多东西值得学习的)我们一起学习吧

In the business community today,the importance of good communication skills is even more stressed,as it is essential that employees can use the tools of evolving information technology to communicate clearly,accurately and effectively.

The objectives of communication are obtain complete under-standing between the parties involved,and elicit the responses required. The first objective can be achieved through clarity of expression.The second demands the right approach.This means that the writer is courteous ,hones,tactful and genuinely interested in promotiong a mutually beneficial business arrangement,taking into account the reader's requirements,level of understanding,and probable reaction to the information.

1.Consideration.Keep in mind your customers and try to put yourself in his place.(一句话,换位思考。)Emphasize the You attitude rather than I or We.
For example: I write to send my congratulations.  
            VS  Congratulations to you on your promotion!

2.Courtesy. Always be polite and Even when you are writing an email. Your customers can feel it.
For example: Your email is not clear at all.I can't understand it.(这般发过去,以后你的信肯定被客人直接delete )         VS  If I understand your letter correctly ....(这语气多谦虚 )

3.Clarity. When you write ,keep in mind what your purpose is and use appropriate words in correct sentence to convey.(不清不楚,不但没能达到目的,而且浪费彼此时间 Note!!!)
For example:   The L/C must reach us for arranging shipment not later than 8 October.  
               VS  The L/C must reach us not later than 8 October for arraning shipment.

4.Consiseness. Make a long story short.(长话短说,言简意赅就OK了)
For example:  We have begun to export our machines to countries abroad.  
               VS We have begun to export our machines.(abroad 与export 重复了)

5.Concreteness. Make the message specific,definite and vivid.
For example: These brakes can stop a car within a short distance.
             VS: These Goodson power brakes can stop a 2-ton car within 24hours.

(我公司从贵国大使得知,你公司生产并出口各种纺织机。请寄给我司一份带有插图的商品目录,并附带列明详细价格呵支付条件。同事请告知所加工纺织品的种类呵所用棉纱的种类。)

顺发一份我美国客人的讯价吧(我觉得书本的虽然简洁合符规范,但是不免书面性太强。现在很多邮件都口语话很强,特别是美国的)

记得有个帖子说采购商是如何选供应商的,特别关于价格说了他几个观点。我顺便也贴上来吧。About price

As a sourcing agent and buyer I can tell you what is a good quotation for me : it includes all relevant information! My job is to find a reliable supplier at a reasonable price in the shortest time possible.
It is very possible that I will choose a supplier whose price is a few percent higher but the quotation is complete. That means, it includes :   - FOB (!!!) price, with seaport marked! (I often get FOB quotes without location. Obviously for me in Europe a FOB Shanghai price is higher than a FOB Xiamen price, since shipping rates are different).
- delivery time (so far no Chinese supplier was able to keep the promised delivery time for my projects - 90% delay, 10% early)
- package unit (carton details)!!! Carton weight, size, volume, content, material. It is very important!!! Usually this point is simply left out by suppliers. But I - and most full-time buyers - have just simply no time to beg for any details separately!!! If a quotation misses this, I simply delete it. I have no time to ask for these points, but I can only calculate my shipping cost with this info!!!
- payment conditions must be exactly discussed.

I hope suppliers will consider these points in the future. If you include all relevant information, you can really help your partner in his decision. And for the supplier, it is a job done once, you needn't work out each detail separately.

(提问,这很重要。不但可以问你想知道的东西,而且这也会让客人觉得你比较专业)

We enclose some brochures to illustrate the types of machines we manufacture.We have already sold some of those machines to China and are now represented there by the Engineering company directly.We think the firm may be able to supply you with more quotations for a wider range of machines,including the knitting machines you requested.
(给些客人要的东西,价格。(记得附上付款方式,一个柜能装多少货物,立方数,重量之类的信息)
