The chief executive officer of Telus Corp. says he has been instructed by the company’s board to cut $1-billion in network investments and slash 5,000 jobs over the next five years if carriers are forced to drop their prices by 25 per cent or open up their networks to wireless resellers.Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce is expected to make changes to its senior executive ranks and announce about 2,000 job cuts when it reports first-quarter earnings next week, the Globe and Mail reported on Friday.BMO didn't reveal details about where or when the job cuts will occur, but it had about 45,513 employees at the end of October. A five per cent cut suggests about 2,275 jobs would be affected. Based on the geographic breakdown of BMO's workforce, the restructuring could affect roughly 1,500 jobs in Canada and 775 in the United States.
