在加拿大

I also noticed that the Canadian employers are always afraid of the qualified immigrants, they do their best to suppress them by any pretext. Showing qualifications can be suicidal. No wonder this country seriously lags of innovations and real tealents don't want to stay here at all.I think the reason again leads back to the square 1. Your supervisors are always in a fear of losing jobs in this small small market and they hence try their best to kill any possible competitor at the early stage. Many may find this unbelievable or exagerration but I believe this by my heart.

回复: 在加拿大职场的体会(转,不过也是我的同感)I Agree, I will give actual situation of my friends that are engineers from outside of canada and with more than ten or even twenty years of experience, they are hired in canada not as engineers but as quantity surveyors, transmission tower scheduler, structural designer, transpo engineer, me right now Im hired as civil engineer.I remember one company they offer me five day employment trial, as structural designer this job is draftsman by the way, I gave some comments on their design because it is very conservative and would be costly to clients to construct, at the end of my five day they didnt hired me the reason was, i was too intellegent for the position as what they evaluated and would definitely move on after that. I think these people doesnt like criticism on their job at hand and wont accept a friendly advice, or suggestions for the good of it. I even explained to the PEng manager that I can even perform building analysis and can provide optimum design, but still, he listened to the senior structural designer who evaluated me, well nothing I can do, it is their company, I think they would need a robot not given a chance to think on.

回复: 在加拿大职场的体会(转,不过也是我的同感)Generally resumes are scrutinized by HR before it reaches the Hiring Manager. Obviously, HR is the first road block, that decide, which resume will be reviewed. Unfortunately, Canadian HR industry is run by white women who does not have the ability to think outside the box with their unnecessarily over paid, mindless and redundant jobs( do not mean disrespect to women kind- its only the management in HR). I was the Floor Manager for technical support which required agents to be highly skilled in computers and softwares. Our HR department was discarding resumes of recent immigrants who had computer science degrees, master degrees, MCSE certified -but only sending resumes of Canadian Youngsters ( Mosty high school drop outs) because they had "Canadian" tele marketing call center experience. Obviously our HR departments average IQ was less than a "Poodle" and they were doing what they think was right rather than discussing Hiring needs with the Technical Managers. When I tried to talk to them they just flatly told me that my job is to interview but they decide who will be interviewed and told me not to interfere with their jobs.Anyway our technical support team eventually became a total joke because of lack of qualified people and it was not too long that our Client decided to cancel the contract and send it to Phillipines. As a result we all lost our jobs. Thanks to the stupidity of our "HR Department" I enjoyed couple of months of EI and finally got a job in my own profession.

回复: 在加拿大职场的体会(转,不过也是我的同感)canadians have never been fair as far as i have experienced, from jon hiring, intervoes, job performance and evaluations in my 4.5 years on employment in canada, i was laid off twice and a victim of back stabbing canadians trying to play me off from top managers, even if you did all the hard work and tough jobs, these illiterate canadians will find a way to win and come up on top of any immigrant or minority and put you down.

Or you can use a consulting company which can help you to develop a suitable strategy (I prefer to use soft skills instead). You do not have to reinvent the wheels.
