加拿大华人论坛 美国留学移民Can I go back to China after getting a waiver?

Hi everybody,Got a question:(...I am extending my J1 visa, the old DS form will expire in the coming Feb.,and my current J1 visa will expire on Jan.10th. Just yesterday I got the notice that my waiver application was approved. Well, I need to go back to China in the end of this month and will come back on Jan. 7th, which is a day before when my visa turns to be invalid.Now the manager in our lab said I could NOT go back because I got the waiver...it this right? :(Thank you so much!
