我们父母移民的case现在ottawa。父亲刚从医生那收到体检复查的通知，需要做痰培养和x-ray. 但一个月前父亲被查出晚期肝癌，已做手术，现在正在做化疗。 父亲(principal application)想放弃申请，但不想影响母亲(dependent)的申请。 请大家建议下一步该咋办。我们想主动通知ottawa父亲的情况。 问题是1。 可以申请延期移民的process？ 如果可以，我们想过一段时间再做打算。 现在父亲没有体力去北京做复查。 2。 如果父亲放弃申请，母亲的申请有办法可以继续吗？ 真不想从头开始。

But from what I googled, it looks like the only scenario under which you can change the principal applicant is when death of principal applicant occurs. I'm thinking he'll be rejected for sure if he goes through with the process which will have my mother rejected automatically. I wonder if it would actually makes any difference if my mother were the principal applicant. Argh... very difficult situation right now...

回复: 关于延期或放弃父母移民的问题As far as I know, both of your parents have to pass the medical exam, even you only want one immigrate. It looks like both your parents have taken the initial medical exam already, and they only want to provide more information to make sure your dad does not have TB.

回复: 关于延期或放弃父母移民的问题如果是同一案件申请的话，好像不能分开，当年我们家爷爷奶奶就这是样的，爷爷身体当时检查有肾等毛病，爷爷被拒奶奶也被拒了。后话：后来爷爷在国内换肝加肾，美国的小姑就申请他们去美国，居然半年就批了，现在他们在美国生活的很好，还拿了美国公民！

回复: 关于延期或放弃父母移民的问题主申请一旦确定就不能更改，如果更改，只能把以前的申请关闭，重新申请新的。我婆婆身体不好，当时担保我公婆的时候，我和我老公就递了２次，把他们的申请分开了。 所以，现在你父亲的主申请地位不可能改变。一方面联系一下移民局，另一方面照顾好家人，他们身体好，比世界上什么事情都重要。祝你父亲早日康复！
